Club Links

At St Luke's we are really proud of our strong links with local sports clubs such as Wigan Athletic, Lancashire County Cricket, Golborne Cricket Club, Tydesley Netball Club and Golborne Hockey Club.

The Daily Mile

Pupils and staff at St Luke's take part in the Daily Mile every day within the school grounds. The aim of the the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, emotional and social health and well being of all children at school. Alongisde physical health benefits, the Daily Mile has numerous health and wellbeing benefits for all of us, whether we run, jog or walk. 


School Games Performances 2017-18

Congratulations to the year 5/6 Hockey team for becoming the first school to win the Leigh, Lowton and Golborne Hockey Cup. They have now qualified for the Wigan School Games Final.The next stage will be for a place at the Greater Manchester School Games!

6.11.17 - Congratulations to our fabulous hockey team who represented the school in the Wigan Schools Quicksticks Finals at Golborne Sports Club. A combination of determination, teamwork and some brilliant individual skill culminated in a well-deserved bronze medal. What a fantastic achievement!

9.11.17 - Well done to our brilliant basketball team who had a fantastic time at the LLG Basketball Competition!

21.11.17 - Congratulations to all of the children who represented the school in a successful Cross Country competition! A brilliant performance by all, despite the mud!


8.12.17 - Congratulations to our UNBEATEN Football Team who have won the LOGOS football league, after winning a thrilling title-decider against Lowton West. What a fantastic achievement!!

18.1.18 - Congratulations to the children who took part in the LLG Highland Games! We are super proud of you all!

26.1.18 - Well done to our fantastic Gymnastics Team who performed superbly at Leigh Sports Village, finishing in 5th position out of 18 schools. 


1.2.18 - A fantastic day out at the LLG Netball Competition! Congratulations to everybody who took part.

9.2.18 - A great performance by everyone who took part in the Sports Hall Athletics at Leigh Sports Village.

8.3.18- Brilliant performance from the Year 4 Curling team at the LLG Curling Competition.

Well done to the Year 4 Tri Golf team who qualified for the School Games Play-Off by finishing runners-up at the Wigan School's Tri Golf tournament.

Year 5 took part in a cultural dance festival at Leigh Sports Village on Friday 23rd March. They performed a Bollywood style dance that Miss Diane and Miss JD from Apple Dance Centre taught them in just one afternoon! The children had practised both at school and at home to make sure that their peformance was flawless - and it was. The judges chose them as the winning school and presented them with a fantastic trophy.

Well done to all of our Year 5 children!

A big well done to all of the Year 5 children who took part in the Bikeability Course this week. The instructors were really impressed with their behaviour out on the road; their listening skills; their determination and their cycling skills. They said that all of the children were, "a real credit to the school."

This was shown as all of them passed their Level 1 and Level 2 assessments with flying colours.

Well done!

The Year 1/2 Curling team won the LLG Curling competition. They performed magnificently and were a real credit to the school. 

12.6.18 - Well done to all Year 5 pupils who took part in the Leigh Games today, taking home two Spirit of the Games awards and silver medals in the cricket competition!


21.6.18 - Well done to all children who took part in the KS1 Leigh Games today, including the Year 6 pupils who helped to run the competitions. We are thrilled to have brought Gold and Bronze medals back to school, along with a whopping trophy!  Amazing work!
