Welcome to Year One.
Our class Christian Value is ‘Compassion’

Mrs Finch and Mrs Beechey are our Class Teachers. Mrs Finch is in class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Mrs Beechey is in class on Thursdays and Fridays. 

Mrs Hampton and Miss Willis are our teaching assistants. 

In Year One we try to make the transition from Reception as easy and as smooth as possible. We recognise the importance of learning through play whilst also aiming to prepare children for the challenges of Year 2.

Important Information:

- Homework will come home each Friday. There is a phonics activity and one other activity. Please ensure you send the sheet back on the following Friday to receive your dojos. 

- Reading books will be changed every Friday. Please try to read at home at least three times a week and ensure that reading books and reading diaries are in school every day. 

- PE will be on Mondays. Please come to school in your PE kit on that day.

- Our Research Project for Autumn 1 is 'Space'. We will be learning about the history of Space travel and about some significant figures such as Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison and Tim Peake.
