Governors

Schools are run by a board of School Governors working together with the school staff to help ensure the very best education for all pupils at the school. School Governors are volunteers from all walks of life, with a wide variety of knowledge and skills who act as a ‘critical friend’ offering challenge and support to help the school continually move forward.

The Governors of St Luke's Church of England Primary School believe it is important that the Governing Body reflects the diversity of our school community. Diverse bodies and boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for our children and young people.

Name of Governing Body: St Luke’s Church of England Primary School

The remit for the Governing Body is to:

1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
2. Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
3. Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Terms of reference for all committees are available on request from school.

Ad-hoc Committees:

• Pupil Discipline
• Complaints
• Appeals

Three governors with no prior knowledge will be called alphabetically to form the committee.  Where this is not possible Wigan Council Governor Services will allocate an appropriate Governor from another setting.
