Welcome to year 3- I hope you had a fantastic Summer holiday.
This term we are going to be learning about stories with familiar settings in English, beginning with a story called ‘Take me to Mrs Cole’. In maths we are beginning with place value and then we shall be starting calculations. In year 3 the children need to learn their times tables and we will be recapping our 2s, 5s and 10s and then moving onto the 3s and 4s this term. In Science the children will be learning about animals, including humans and they will learn about nutrition. We also have the opportunity to go to the Toby Carvery to learn a little more about this. Our key skills focuses on rainforests and our art and music will link to this topic.
More details of our research project for the term will soon be available to download- check back soon!
In Year 3 the children will require their P.E. kit on a Tuesday and their swimming kit on a Wednesday. However, P.E. kits should be in school every day. Homework, including words of the week will be sent home in the home/ school diaries on a Friday and should be returned by Wednesday of the following week. Diaries should also be in school each day for staff to write in. In Year 3 the children change their own reading books when they need to and there are opportunities to do this daily.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in year 3. If you have any problems or worries please don’t hesitate to pop in.
